California Society for Respiratory Care

Each region represents a large territory of land which, by design, is to bring the CSRC closer to the California RCPs. The Region President is the lead steward and is responsible for bringing the CSRC’s Mission, Vision and Core Values closer to the Respiratory Community within their region. This is accomplished by coordinating efforts in the areas of P.A.C.E., particularly Advocacy and Education. This is done by holding business meetings, CEU events, advocacy awareness, and social activities which gathers RCPs and other stakeholders together. This will facilitate networking where sharing of ideas, thoughts and practices can be exchanged. In turn, the areas of Professionalism and Commitment can be demonstrated to the Respiratory Community as well.

Upcoming Events

Hello and thank you for participating in our South Coast Region Student Awards/Student Night!

After a brief hiatus, we are happy to bring back our student night and celebrate all the hard work it takes in becoming a respiratory therapist. Per usual we will be giving out 4 student awards with year, two $1000 awards and two $500 awards. The application is located here. You may submit your applications this year to me online at [email protected] or mail in a packet to 436 Lime Ave unit 3 Long Beach CA 90802 attention CSRC SCR Student Awards. The deadline to submit applications is February 28, 2022. Any applications that are incomplete or late will be considered invalid and disregarded. Packages postmarked on or before February 28th will still be accepted. Please feel free to contact me or Suzanne with any questions you may have prior to submitting.

Secondly, we have our sputum bowl. While the location is TBD, we do have a projected date of March 17th. Each school may enter two teams to compete. If a school has a desire to submit a third team, please contact me and we will see if we can make it work. This year we will be sending the first and second place teams to Pechenga to compete in the state Sputum Bowl. The region will provide hotel accommodations and access to the state conference for the duration of the sputum bowl. Please note that all participants on both teams are required to spend some time volunteering/ helping with small tasks during the conference, this could include but not limited to attendee check-in, greeting guests, directing guests, etc. Also, each team must submit five future sputum bowl questions prior to competition.

Thank you and good luck!
