Rick Meyer, MS, BS, RRT, RCP
“Rick was just one of those people that everyone liked.” He came to California in 1968 shortly after he served in the Vietnam War flying helicopters as part of HMH 361 “Tweeds Tigers.”
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973 and a Master's degree in health professions education at Western University in 1999.
Rick authored several Respiratory Therapy textbooks. One was “Master Guide for Passing the Respiratory Care Credentialing Exams.” He was a member of the Joint Review Committee on Respiratory Therapy Education (JRCRTE), the predecessor to today’s Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care (CoARC). He provided site visitations to RT programs across the country. There too, he trained the trainers to make improvements in their RT programs.
Rick worked as an instructor in the Respiratory Care Program at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. He was an extraordinary educator who was able to connect very well to the students in the Mt. SAC RT Program. His style of teaching made the material easy to understand, while simultaneously commanding a great deal of respect for his vast knowledge of Respiratory Therapy. Many of his students went on to be very successful in the Respiratory Community by becoming leaders and educators themselves.
